CBD is short for cannabidiol. It’s one of 80 different compounds called cannabinoids found in both the cannabis and hemp plants.

Studies are still ongoing to verify exactly how it works. Yet it’s thought that the reason CBD is so effective is because of how it interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS for short).

The ECS is a biological system that manages lots of processes in the body, including memory, sleep, immune response, joint ache management and more.

The ECS has two types of cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2). And CBD is thought to interact with these receptors to reduce the sensation of discomfort.
